Fresno Filmworks presents “Z” at the Tower Theatre. The restored 1969 political thriller, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Cannes as well as an Oscar and a Golden Globe, tells the thinly fictionalized account of the assassination of a left-wing, pro-peace Greek political candidate by the ruling right-wing government.
Advance tickets cost $10 general and $8 for students and seniors, and can be purchased by check or cash at the Tower Theatre box office, 815 E. Olive Ave. Tickets can be purchased online at FresnoFilmworks.org.

Fresno Filmworks presents “The Country Teacher” at the Tower Theatre. The Czech drama, which won the Audience Award at the Cottbus Film Festival of Young East European Cinema, tells the story of a gifted teacher who leaves Prague for a grammar school in the country only to have his newfound solace tested by an ex-boyfriend.

lyrical Swedish drama, which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at
the 2009 Golden Globe Awards, tells the story of a working-class woman whose
entire life is transformed after she wins a camera in a lottery.
