2nd annual Undercurrent party-fiesta-bash-benefit-birthday-burlesque-variety-show with huge drinks, fun games, incredible people watching, mini-horse stable, and insane musical guests the likes of Julia Dawn USA Today heralded her as the “Janice Joplin of the San Joaquin.” The Portland Post wrote... “Sheer music from her voice and guitar.” Plus, Merced’s prodigal step children El Olio Wolof, named Time Magazine’s “hot new band for the Gifted and Talented children in all of us.” Including Rademacher, the Phoenix Chronicle states “the little band that could all over your ass—hooks catchier than hepatitis A.” Insanely popular home town phenoms The Sleepover Disaster will also hit the stage, fresh off their SXSW show, well, I guess that was a couple months ago, but I’m going to continue saying it, damn it.
You into hip hop? Well then, get krunkdiddled by the likes of hot spitters including Fresno Unified’s Chuck Dimes, and a special appearance by Shon J. Plus, always fresh meta-hip hopper (not sure if he likes that term but I’ll risk it) sick flow master Ibid will be dropping mad isms as well. And, with a hit new album just released, Aesop Fables of The Living Legends. Already an impressive gig that in normal department stores would retail $39.99, but not at The Undercurrent, yes, folks, if you act fast we’ll throw in more crazily talented performers like sweet songstress Abigail Nolte, and rock hardy RightView—the Oakland Outbound called them “California’s answer to Styx”. In addition, you’ll be hypnotized by the hotness that is Tommy Delgado, Ian Blesse, and Sam Rocha—The Fresno Bea called them “three hot meats with their ear to the street, making music so sweet you can’t help but move your feet.” Plus, the jazzy def Three Bags Full, fresh off their Middle East tour, where the only peace they served up was a hot piece of funk. Plus, Carlos “DB” Montano, and for one night only in rare form, the Sacramento Sentinel states “The devil went down to Georgia only to find out what he was looking for was right here in Fresno all along—Patrick Contreras.
All this ridiculous hot magical mess will be orchestrated by the universally gifted Devoya Mayo known to spin faster than 22 inch rims, and co-hosted by American Book Award and Zora Neal Hurston Award winning poet Tim Z. Hernandez. Still in the mood to party after all this? No worries drop it like it’s hot in the late night with beats by DJ Aziomatic. Celebrate the two year anniversary of your local paper. And, seeing as we’re two… drink specials: shots for tots, unlimited shooters for anyone two and under. The Undercurrent: giving back to the community for only $10.00 a human.
