The Most Wonderful Time of the Year - The Rogue Festival!
I’ve been looking forward to this year’s Rogue Festival since last year’s Rogue Festival. Rogue 2007 is off to a fantastic start (complete with fantastic weather), having drawn performers from all over California (and, indeed, from throughout North America) and a large audience from all over Fresno. The anticipation mounts as you stand in line to get your ticket (most shows are priced between a measly $3-$7, and all the money at the door goes to the performers, which is unusual for this type of festival). Then you stand in line at the door, hoping for a good seat for what you hope will be a wonderful show. And you do get a good seat and see a great show, so you do it again and again…
For my first Rogue night, I saw a cello rock group, a solo music act, a solo acting/storytelling performance, and rapped literature. There is such an eclectic mix of shows available, it’s a great opportunity to bounce around and check out things you might not normally have the opportunity to see. You can also check out the awesome Rogue shirts for sale at Ashtree ($20).
Even if you have plans this first weekend (though who would make other plans when you could be at Rogue?!), start listening for things you might want to see next weekend. You can check out show reviews right here on the Undercurrent website, and you can check out reviews at www.roguefestival.com as well.
So enjoy the shows and enjoy the crowds of your fellow Fresnans coming out to support the arts!
