Rogue, Day 1

Topic Tags

Well the first day of Rogue has come and gone. If the first day is any indictation of the rest of the festival then this will very likely be the biggest and best Rogue yet. The streets of the Tower were teeming with people, all walking from one venue to the next. It was good to see so many people out, what was better was hearing people talking about the show they just saw. Some giving high praise others not so high praise, but even when the praise wasn't glowing the critical person was still excited about catching another show that they heard good things about.

I caught 4 shows last night. I started with "The Naked Blues" (That Guy Kevin), a show you don't want to miss. Next was "The Disgustion Truth About Life" (Pieter Moerdyk) another show that should be on your short list. Pieter sang, told a few stories, and made everyone laugh, smile, and tap along. Then I caught "Jesus In Montana." This was a show worth seeing. It certainly was funny, very funny, but the story wasn't as captivating as you'd hope it would be. I finished the night with "The Rap Canterbury Tales" also a show on my short list (the problem with Rogue is that even your short list is too long). The show was just as you might expect a refashioning of "The Canterbury Tales" as told by three rappers in the mist of a storytelling battle.

It was a good first day of Rogue. Looking forward to a second today, six shows on the agenda. I'll let you know how they turn out.

If your a Rogue performer then you should be pitching your show. Create a blog and let everyone know whet they will miss if they don't go. Post your shows to our Calendar.

If you see a show write a review about of it, then post it to the Rogue reviews section.
