Ryan Paulson performs Pentecostal Wisconsin with a great mix of songs (singing and guitar - church songs and original pieces), comedy, and story-telling. You can’t help but want to sing along to songs you may have wished you’d forgotten. In between, members of Ryan’s childhood church community come to life in funny caricatures (sometimes when someone makes fun of the bizarre traits of people you don’t know, it can come off as mean or disrespectful, but this is definitely not the case in this show). The show becomes a coming-of-age story of someone trying to fit into a world most of us couldn’t quite imagine.

What’s really captivating about this heart-felt and funny show is that it’s part guy-next-store likability and part other-worldly Scandinavian/Pentecostal/Wisconsinite. The house was packed, and the show was VERY well received. As several of us talked about the show afterwards, we all agreed that it was one of our favorite comedies we’d seen at Rogue so far!
